DOFF / steam cleaning
Specialised equipment is required to properly clean masonry and remove paint without damaging the masonry below. Sandblasting and other similar methods are well known to be damaging to the fabric of the building.

We exclusively employ gentle methods that have received widespread approval in the conservation industry.
We have our own in-house DOFF III and have access to other models and methods, so we can choose what's most suitable for your project.

Materials
The process requires an understanding of the substrate (masonry) and of what paint has been used and how to effectively break it down, with or without the use of paint softeners. The careful control of pressure and heat allows the masonry to be cleaned without damaging it. Sandblasting, pressure washing and even hand cleaning can often damage historic masonry.
